Sirius Astronomy has a range of packages for schools and youth groups. From Solar Workshops and Star Parties to Planet Making and Comet Making, our fun, interactive sessions bring space science to life.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Whether you are a school wanting to enrich science provision; a Brownie pack, Cub or Scout troop aiming for ‘Stargazing’ and ‘Astronomy’ badges; or a youth group looking for a fun, educational workshop, Sirius Astronomy has a session for you.
Would you like to see the surface of the Sun? View sunspots and prominences? Perhaps even glimpse a solar flare? Then book a solar workshop. Sirius Astronomy can provide the equipment and expertise to allow you and your students to do so in safety as well as enabling you to take images of the sun.
We can tailor our star parties to schools and youth groups. We run fully guided star parties with telescopes such as Celestron Prodigy 130, which is perfect for those with no prior knowledge of telescopes. We also bring a projector to enable children not familiar with using a telescope to see the night-sky.
We also run workshops which can take place outside or indoors. These are available as stand alone sessions, meaning that you do not need access to outdoor space to book a session with Sirius Astronomy. They are also run as the alternative in case of bad weather if you have booked a star party, solar workshop or other outdoor session.
In some cases it may be possible to pair workshops or star parties with telescope hire, especially for groups where badges may take a more sustained engagement with astronomy. Contact us to discuss requirements.
Special Educational Needs and disability
We have experience of SEN and disabilities and are happy to tailor workshops and star parties as appropriate.
